metaphor/cliche
March 9, 2009

This is my example for cliche. The image is a romantic sunset walk on the beach, which follows the guidelines of a cliche pretty well. The dictionary defanition is a sterotyped expression/idea that has been overused, and thus has lost impact.

A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance. – dictionary.com
This is a metaphor for how I feel at work. I’m there but in my mind I’m somewhere else.
Ad

it won’t let me put the picture on for some reason…but. I think that this ad is affective for a few reasons. First off it’s bright, and Jackie Chan is jumping out towards the audience. It catchs the attention of possible viewers. Then it keeps them interested by pushing their point, “Quit smoking.”, with images of Chan beating up ciggarettes. It also throws in the connection of the popular What would Jesus do line. The ad is eye catching and humorous while putting forth a serious point.
Assignment 1
January 30, 2009

This is what I came up with for the first assignment. Source Forge was the first place I looked, but I didn’t find anything to my interest. Next I experimented with grab in a few different ways, but couldn’t come up with anything I liked. The end result came from just grabbing images off of google and chopping them all together. Each portion is made from a single background duplicated many times and layered. towards the end I experimented with other objects like the trees and space ship that are featured in the piece.
